The principles of Aikido - unity of body-mind, breath-spirit and creative cooperation with others - find their extension in the katas of the Jo and Bokken techniques transmitted by Saito Sensei. Training with weapons fosters precision, timing, power and connection with partner that aid in learning empty-hand technique. In this seminar Wolfgang Baumgartner Sensei will emphasize the unity of the weapons work and bare-handed techniques with particular focus on jo-kata. Baumgartner Sensei works with all levels of students and demonstrates that Aikido is not a means to an end, but a continuing process of learning and personal growth.

Baumgartner Sensei has studied Aikido for 30 years under Morihiro Saito Sensei, 9th dan, the founder’s closest disciple. Baumgartner Sensei is a member of the Takemusu Aikido Association (TAA), which is recognized by the World Headquarters in Japan. The association, consisting of more than 70 schools promotes the teaching of Saito Sensei and emphasizes fundamentals of empty-handed technique.
